How Black Men Can Use Our Power To Get The Democratic Party To Address The Black Community’s Needs (Switch To The Green Party Immediately)
In his Ballot or The Bullet Speech, in 1963, Malcom X spoke about Black voters’ blind loyalty to the Democratic Party despite Democrats not keeping their promise to the Black community.
He said :
“Anytime you throw your weight behind a political party that controls two-thirds of the government, and that party can’t keep the promise that it made to you during election time, and you’re dumb enough to walk around continuing to identify yourself with that party, you are not only a chump, but you’re a traitor to your race.”
Over 60 years later, The Democratic Party is still doing the same thing.
In a breakfast club interview from a few weeks ago, Congressman Al Green said :
“We (the Democrats) did not honor what we said. We had the House, the Senate, and Presidency in 2021 and did not deliver”
In order for the Democratic Party to stop taking the Black community for granted, we must use the Green Party as leverage.
This strategy will NOT Keep Republicans in office and will NOT take votes away from the Democratic Party.
I will explain how it will do the exact opposite.
In the 2024 election the Democratic Party was afraid of the Green Party. They were so afraid that they began suing to prevent the Green Party from being on the ballot.
If Democrats were so threatened by a political party with less than 300,000 members, imagine how threatened they would be if Black men, one of their most loyal voting blocs, who give Democrats about 80 percent of their votes: leaves the Democratic Party and joins forces with the Green Party. The same Green Party that had the Democratic Party panicking.
In order for this strategy to be most effective it should be focused on Black men who live in Swing States such as : Michigan, Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Nevada
I know some people will say “ why not start our own party? Instead of joining a party founded by another white person.”
Due to the political climate in America, I don’t think we have the luxury of trying to start the process of a new party. But if somebody starts a party for Black Americans, I will gladly join.
The Green Party is already set up with infrastructure and Black people can easily become the majority.
As stated the Green Party has less than 300,000 members.
If 1 million Black men or even just 400,000 Black men joined the Green party, we would be the majority of the Green Party and can take it over.
As I mentioned, the Green Party is the third party that Democrats fear the most.
There are some people who are skeptical of Jill Stein, who has become the face of the Green Party.
If 400,000 Black men joined the Green Party, we would be the majority and could pick who we wanted for a presidential Candidate, instead of Jill Stein.
It is worth mentioning that one of the most courageous Black politicians in decades, Cynthia McKinney ran for President, as the Green Party Nominee, in 2008, before Jill Stein.
Also a Black man named Butch Ware is a Green Party candidate for Governor of California.
That being said, the main goal is NOT for a Green Party Candidate to become president in 2028, nothing is impossible but that is not the mark realistic goal.
The focus should be on the short term goal, which is to scare the Democratic Party into addressing our needs.
To make the Democrats sweat. To make them panic and to take our votes seriously.
The midterms election for members of Congress is in November of 2026.
A bout a year and a half from now.
Black men should use this next year and a half to switch to the Green Party, vote for Green Party on the LOCAL level, or even run as Green Party candidates.
I would also argue that it should be sooner than a year and a half.
If 1 million Black men left the Democratic and registered as Green Party members within months, the Democratic Party would pay attention immediately.
While doing this, we pick 5–10 policies specifically for our community on the local level.
Once we get their attention we say:
Either you implement. these 5–10 policies, on the local level in our cities by the midterms, or else we will continue to join and build up the Green Party.
If they implement these policies, then sure we will give the Democratic Party our vote.
It’s literally up to the Democratic Party if they want Black people’s vote.
By 2053 Black wealth, less than 20 years from now, Black wealth is expected to hit zero.
If we think gun violence in our community is bad now, imagine how bad it will be less than 20 years from now when Black wealth is zero.
Which brings me to my next point.
All of the cities known for Black men killing other black men at astronomical rates, just so happen to be ran by democrats.
Just to name a few:
St Louis has had a Democrat Mayor since 1953.
Chicago has had a Democrat Mayor since the 1930’s.
Detroit has had a Democratic Mayor since 1962.
New Orleans has a has had all Democratic Mayors since 1872.(To be fair many. White democrats in the south switched to Republican after the civil rights bill)
Washington DC is controlled by Democrats and DC was ranked as having the highest rate of Racial Inequality (Before Trump was in office)
We can’t fully blame Republicans for that.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
You don’t have to leave the democrat party permanently. I’m just trying to get you to use your power to get the Democrats to address these 5 issues facing the Black community
My personal 5 policies I think we should prioritize l to get passed below:
- Dr. King’s vision of a Guaranteed Job Program, targeted towards Black men impacted by the racist War on Drugs/Criminal Justice system, with a NON-poverty wage salary.
2. A policy that allows Black people to control the economic development in our communities. Meaning the majority of building owners, landlords and business owners operating in our neighborhoods should be Black residents who live in those neighborhoods.
3. The policemen that patrol Black neighborhoods should be Black and from the community.
4. Schools in Black neighborhoods should receive the same amount of funding as schools in white neighborhoods.
5. 1 Year Paid Maternity and Paternity Leave (To address the black maternal and black infant mortality rate)
