  1. When do you plan to propose the initiative?

2. Can you explain what you are trying to accomplish with the African American Autonomy Act.

3. How would denying African Americans autonomous regions in DC , be denying basic human rights?

My answer to question #1: There will a hearing in which I get to present my argument for this initiative, within the next few months.

My answer to question # 2:

What I hope to accomplish with the African American Autonomy Act, are three things.

  1. I would like for this initiative to end the gentrification of Black neighborhoods in D.C. which displaced 20,000 Black Washingtonians in a ten year span (2000–2010) and continues to displace Black residents.
  2. I would like for this inititiative to give Black people in D.C. their basic human right of self-determination.
  3. I would like for other Black people all over America to petition for self-determination in their cities.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines it as: “The action of a people in deciding its own form of government; free determination of statehood, postulated as a right.”

The most recent example of a people group in America gaining the right to autonomy in America, was a Hasidic Jewish community in New York that started their own town. They split from the Monroe, New York to start their own town called Palm Tree. This Jewish town has…
